Another year another Euro Gamer, this time EGX at the NEC in Birmingham. The usual gang went and I got to hang out with my beautiful Ice Queen Laura (yeah, that’s what I call her). Trying out up and coming releases as well as various other games how was it this year?

On March 21st 2015 MCM Comic Con came to Birmingham, and the Spectrum Club had a group trip there on the Saturday. I went there in 2013 but didn’t go in 2014 to save my money. However this year I decided to go again. So how was it and what did I get up to there?

Placebo, again? Well if you remembered the last time I reviewed Placebo in Birmingham I said they were very good live, so when my Dad got a couple of tickets for Christmas I wasn’t going to pass up seeing them again. At this point it’s become harder for them to impress me which they’ve already done in the past, but was it still a good show?

As soon as my mate Jack found out The Pretty Reckless were doing a tour of the UK he didn’t hesitate but to get two tickets for me and him. Considering that I missed them at this year’s Download festival and Jack said they were really good I thought I’d check them out. So I got their Going to Hell album in preparation and got used to most of those songs, but how was their show?

Before the big-un that is Download festival I decided to go to a smaller gig at the Flapper and Firkin in Birmingham. There I saw the band Layers supporting Freeze the Atlantic. Who is this ‘Layers’ you may ask? Well the band’s guitarist James Thompson is actually my guitar teacher. So when he informed me they were playing in Brum I thought I’d go check his band out, see if I was really learning from a professional.

Nine Inch Nails are one of the biggest names in the Industrial music scene. Known for their unique blend of dark synth pop with basslines and fronted by one man powerhouse Trent Reznor. Since their comeback album Hesitation Marks was released in 2013 the band have been touring again, and (obviously) they came to the UK. Hearing they get a good live reputation I thought it would be a good chance to check them out. So how was the gig?

As soon as Kayleigh found out that Limp Bizkit were touring the UK she didn’t hesitate to let me know. I was impressed with their performance at Download 2013 so I was eager to see them again. Upon finding out they were headlining the Kerrang tour and the tickets were £20 we just had to go.  And it wasn’t just Limp Bizkit but there were also three other bands playing, so if you were to do the maths we were paying £5 per band. Bargain or what? So anyways here’s my summary of the Kerrang Tour 2014.
