As you may know by now Avenged Sevenfold are headlining Download Festival this year, which is awesome. So in honour of the occasion I thought I’d review an Avenged Sevenfold album. I already talked about their Hail to the King album, but now I’m looking at what a lot of fans and critics consider their best album yet, City of Evil, released in 2005. Californian hard rockers Avenged Sevenfold have quickly become one of my favourite bands. Their riffs are wicked, M Shadows has a great voice and it’s the kind of music that’s easy to get into. 2010s Nightmare album was quite a personal album to them after their original drummer Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan died so a lot of their songs were more sombre and reflecting on death. With their latest album Hail to the King the band says they’re now having fun again. How does this compare to their other albums though?

At the moment Paramore are one of my favourite bands, with their catchy pop punk songs. However back in 2010 the Farro brothers quit the band. I thought it would put the band on hiatus, but the remaining members soldiered on and continued to put out music. They even opened for The Cure at Reading and Leeds 2012, and they were awesome. Their 2013 self-titled album was one of my most anticipated of the year. But how does it hold up? Well let’s find out.

Since 2006 when the band Bring me the Horizon first came out they have established themselves as one of Britain’s biggest post hardcore bands alongside Enter Shikari and have become well known for doing good live performances getting main stage billings at popular festivals such as Reading and Leeds and even a headline slot at last years Warped Tour UK. The album of theirs I’m going to be looking at is their fourth studio album Sempiternal released in 2013.
