I have been asked by Tom to do some reviews on this awesome site. Reviews will be related to film, TV, any media etc. We both agreed that a great first review would be the delight that was the MCM Comic-Con in Birmingham:

I had never been to a Comic-Con before. So naturally I didn’t know what to expect when I arrived there. If I can sum the experience up in one word, it would have to be: WOW!

MCM was a great experience and a great time out. It is truly a place where nerds of all kind can unite and meet up with other nerds =) Okay that’s not the only reason why MCM was great. There was such a beautiful atmosphere at this place, I think me and my group were smiling the entire time we were there.

MCM (Held at the NEC in Birmingham) had it all: Cosplayers (I’ll get to that in a minute) Comic-stalls, special guest appearances from film and TV stars, Robot wars Live, amazing replicas of classic film sets for you to get your picture taken next to, even massages – that’s right massages, this event had so much that I wasn’t expecting.

Not only is there a variety of different things to do and explore in MCM, but everyone was very friendly and seemed to share their enthusiasm for film, TV, video games, comics, anime etc wherever they went.

But if there’s one thing that stood out the best at MCM, it would have to be the cosplayers. There were so many and it was such a joy to see fans dedication to making a cosplay costume of their favourite media related characters. Even our group took part, I was Connor from ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Tom was Captain America from, well ‘Captain America’ The other two in our group were Obi Wan Kenobi from ‘Star Wars’ and Scorpion from ‘Mortal Combat’ (Not many Mortal Combat cosplayers were at MCM, there should hopefully be more next time)

I truly believe that half the excitement of MCM was the Cosplay. For a brief moment our group felt like celebrities (True, most of the other cosplayers most likely did too, but you get my point) So many people came to us asking for them to take their picture of us. It was a real treat. The moment I entered the NEC someone came up to me and said ‘Great costume, mate, can I get a picture?’ I was more than happy to oblige.

True some Cosplayers stood out more than most (The Jack Sparrow cosplayer looked JUST like Johnny Depp) but that didn’t matter. It wasn’t about who could get the most pictures taken, it was about fans interacting with other fans and sharing their passion for media.

Speaking of media, there were some great items to gaze at too. From a life-size ‘Portal’ gun to a stream of awesome anime music soundtracks and even a ‘Dalek’ cupcake, there was a lot of great stuff here.

So, at the moment the MCM comic-con seemed to perfect right? Well, sadly nothing is perfect, not even this comic-con: At times, the areas got a bit too crowded, so it was very easy to get lost, and I do wish that there was a better presented timetable for the guest appearances; I heard Roger Lloyd Pack (Trigger from Only fools and horses’) was going to be there, but sadly I never met him and not one member of staff could guide me to his stand in the NEC or anyone’s for that matter. You had to find it yourself, and in a huge area like NEC, that was always going to be hard. Still, I did get to meet Bob Baker (Co-writer of Wallace and Gromit) and Phil Daniels (Voice of Fetcher from Chicken Run) who were both very sweet and friendly.

So was MCM comic-con perfect? No, but it was very close. Even though there were a few problems, they were really only nitpicks and they didn’t stop me and my group from having an amazing time. This was my first comic-con and it was a great one. I definitely recommend this event to any fan of media and to anyone who’s looking for a great time out with family and friends. There’s so much awesome stuff to do and it’s almost impossible to get bored at this event.

I will definitely be coming back next year.

At the moment Paramore are one of my favourite bands, with their catchy pop punk songs. However back in 2010 the Farro brothers quit the band. I thought it would put the band on hiatus, but the remaining members soldiered on and continued to put out music. They even opened for The Cure at Reading and Leeds 2012, and they were awesome. Their 2013 self-titled album was one of my most anticipated of the year. But how does it hold up? Well let’s find out.

Greetings mortals, I am DracoJames102 and I am here to give you a review.

‘Star Wars The Force Unleashed’ was a successful game when it was first released. It managed to sell over one million copies on the year it was released. Something this successful was warranted for a sequel. I remember seeing two trailers for this game back in 2010 which featured Starkiller fighting a gigantic monster and Starkiller using his force powers to battle the Imperials. I was exited to play it especially after playing the first game. The game was released a few months later and I managed to get my hands on it. Does this game manage to expand upon the formula of the first game and still stand out as a game in general? This is my review of ‘Star Wars The Force Unleashed 2’.

I love super heroes. To me super heroes are idols that we can look up to not only because we like their super powers but because of the types of characters they are which made us all want to be just like them. So to honour who is probably my favourite super hero of all time (and to celebrate the release of a certain game) I am going to review ‘Batman Arkham Asylum’ for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
